Student nurse numbers rise but retention challenges remain for nursing overall.The Nursing Times     

Reports that a rise in the number of students on nursing courses across the UK this year has been welcomed, but it comes with a clear warning on the need to improve efforts to retain students and ensure they enter the registered nurse workforce in future. Figures show that, as of 25 August, 33,240 new students had been placed onto nursing courses across the UK for 2021-22 – up 5% from the year before. Locally, the West Sussex Gazette reports that extra places have been opened at Chichester University’s School of Nursing after high demand. The new facility, which opens to student nurses in September, is being run in collaboration with University Hospitals Sussex
